Executive Team:
David S. Lee – Chairman of the Board David S. Lee is Chairman of the Board for Sparktech Corp., Cortelco, eOn Communications Corp and the Symbio Group. Mr. Lee is also a Senior Advisor to Silver Lake Partners and a former Regent of the University of California. (http://www.sparktech.com/content/dlee/).
Mr. Lee originally co-founded Qume Corporation in 1973 and served as Executive Vice President until it was acquired by ITT Corporation in 1978. After the acquisition, Mr. Lee held the positions of Executive Vice President of ITT Qume until 1981, and President through 1983. From 1983 to 1985, he served as a Vice President of ITT and as Group Executive and Chairman of its Business Information Systems Group. In 1985, he became President and Chairman of Data Technology Corporation and in 1988, Data Technology Corporation bought Qume and merged both companies.
Earlier, Mr. Lee was Manager of Printer Engineering at Diablo Systems where he led the team that perfected the daisywheel printer.
Currently, Mr. Lee is a member of the Board of Directors for the following business related ventures: Linear Technology Corporation, Daily Wellness Co., and Honorary President of Asian Cultural Teachings. Mr. Lee is a member of the President’s Council on the 21st Century Workforce, appointed by President George Bush Jr. He was also an advisor to President Bush through the Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiation (Office of the U.S. Trade Representative / Executive Office of the President) for two terms and additionally to Governor Pete Wilson through the California Economic Development Corporation (CalEDC) and the Council on California Competitiveness, and a Charter Member of the Minority Business Roundtable. Mr. Lee was the Commissioner of California Postsecondary Education Commission and served on the Board of Governors for California Community Colleges, the founder and Chairman of CIE, AAMA, and Monte Jade Science and Technology Association, as well as being the founder and board member of the Tech Museum of Innovation.
Mr. Lee has received numerous awards for his contributions to high technology and local communities. Amongst them, he received the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Award from President Bush in May, 1992. Others include the Excellence 2000 Award, the Mid-America Chinese Science & Technology Association Outstanding Achievement Award, Asian American High Technology Convention Award, the Chinese Institute of Engineers - U.S.A. Achievement Award, the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California's Business Entrepreneur Award, the Albert Einstein Technology Medal for Entrepreneurship, and the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
Born in China, Mr. Lee holds an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering and B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University and a M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University.
Will Hendrick – Vice President of Sales Will has over 25 years experience in sales and marketing with technology companies, where he has been a vice president and officer in public and private organizations ranging from telecommunications products to consumer fulfillment operations. Prior to Sparktech he was Vice President of Sales for Cidco Communications, selling innovative Consumer Telephony products to the major US Telcos and Wireless Carriers. Prior to Cidco, Will was Vice President - Client Services at Innotrac Corporation, providing end user fulfillment for companies such as Coke, SBC, and Qwest. He served as Vice President and General Manager of Intelidata Technologies’ Telecommunications Division, providing cutting edge Telephony products to Carriers and Retail. Will also served as Vice President of Sales at Colonial Data, introducing Caller ID CPE to the consumer marketplace in conjunction with the Public Switched Network deployment of Caller ID. Will held many sales, sales support, sales management, product management, and product development positions at BellSouth, serving as Director of Local & Toll Product Management before leaving to join Colonial Data.
Will has an undergraduate degree in Business from Clemson University, and a Masters in Business from Georgia State University.
Randy Lee – Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Randy joins Sparktech with over 10 years of experience in Business Development, Marketing and Finance. Randy was with Silicon Valley Bank where he assisted in the bank’s strategic planning efforts and underwrote some of SVB’s largest transactions in communication/electronics and life sciences. Prior to Silicon Valley Bank, Randy was the Director of Strategic Alliances at iAsiaWorks, a publicly traded web hosting company that built large scale, next generation data centers throughout Asia. At iAsiaWorks, Randy was responsible for building the company’s key strategic partners in both the US and throughout the Asia Pacific region. He was also with ChinaVest, a Greater China focused venture capital firm where he focused on the telecommunications and information technology sectors. Prior to ChinaVest, Randy was the lead Manufacturing Engineer on the breakthrough 1GB Iomega Jaz removable disk drive at Read-Rite Corporation.
Randy received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University and his MBA from the University of California, Davis, Graduate School of Management.
Jo-ning Ta – Vice President of Engineering Jo-ning has spent over 20 years managing and developing large-scale, high performance distributed and concurrent systems in successful start-up companies and leading corporations. Jo-ning was the former VP of Engineering and co-founder of Mobile Radius Inc., a mobile data company. Mobile Radius focused in providing solution framework in the areas of charging, transaction, and interactive marketing for cell phone users in mobile data networks. Prior to Mobile Radius, Jo-ning was the VP of Engineering of Sina.com, a world leading Chinese Internet portal and online media company. He was responsible for its US and Global product development in online content, community, communication, commerce areas, and web site operations. Prior to Sina, Jo-ning was with Netscape Communications leading the development of its Internet e-commerce and workflow systems, and the Internet application infrastructure. He pioneered the creation of web objects for Internet payment and architected the highly scalable and distributed workflow product in a loosely coupled cluster. Prior to Netscape, Jo-ning held various key development and management positions in leading corporations like Bell Communication Research, Hewlett Packard, Oracle Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation and Gupta working in the areas of telecommunications, relational databases, workflow and client server.
